When you walk outside to the CDM Garden, you see lots of things, such as plants, fish,various insects, and a beehive. But that's not all you see. There are also Discovery Youth helping out the Museum visitors with outdoor garden projects.

This Exhibit was based on it!!) We make marble rollercoasters, delta flyers, and stamp our names in sign language. Museum visitors have fun when Discovery Youth helps out with great activities.

Here we work with the visitors on different activities like Christmas decorations, Making bubbles, gumdrop domes, marshmellow towers, spider making, and glow bones.

Magic Beans
Magic Beans

Magic Beans is really cool. You get to see the different kinds of beans that come from around the world. You can touch the different kinds of beans and play with instruments made from beans. We also make corn husk dolls which are very neat.

Early Childhood Center
The Early Childhood Center

Is a place where young kids can play without getting trampled by the big kids!! Just Kidding!! It's really a fun area suited to the younger ages. We do puppets, play with color paint, read stories, and play toys with the children.

Step into the Past
Step into the Past

As you walk toward Waterworks and the Garden, you notice a big old green car. It is the entrance to Step into the Past. Here Discovery Youth dresses up in antique and old-fashioned clothing. They also "wash" clothes, grind wood, and make button spinners like they did in the old west.

Christmas in the Park

Christmas in the Park We joined volunteers from around the bay area to help decorate and setup Christmas in the Park at Plaza de Cesar Chavez. We helped cleaned some of the booths and then got to decorate our own Christmas display. We were very lucky to have the opportunity to decorate one of the newest displays which was the wishing well.

Christmas Parade We walked with the float of the Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose which was a big rubber ducky which we help build. We walked all the way from the HP Pavilion down to San Carlos Street. It was also braodcasted live on NBC 11.

Vietnamese Parade and Festival
Vietnamese Parade and Festival We joined volunteers from the bay area to help prepare and setup for the 2004 San Jose Vietnamese Spring Festival and Parade. We helped hand out around 100 boxes of free donuts to visiitors that were donated by Krispy Kreme Donuts. After that we got to help coordinate the parade traffic and see upclose some of the parade floats including Dora the Explorer and Curious George.

City Year Carnival
City YEar Carnival We joined volunteers around the bay area and City Year Staff to help facilitate fun games and activities for the City Year Carnival. We got to help around 500 students who came to the carnival. Our games were Pin the Organ on the Body, Finger Casting, and Health Bingo.

Children's Youth Fair
Children's Youth Fair We joined organizations from around the community to help facilitate games and activities for the annual Chilren;s Youth Fair held at the Guadalupe Park in front of the Children's Discovery Museum. Our activities were making fruit puppets and happy smiles teeth.

Great American Litter Pickup
Great American Litter Pickup We joined volunteers from around the city of San Jose to help clean up the trash around the community. We were able to clean up about a quarter mile of the Guadalupe River thats located next to the Children's Discovery Museum. We collected 18 bags of trash and other wierd things like a shopping cart and some bikes. We also got the opportunity to pickup litter with the Mayor of San Jose.
