Pop goes the bubble. This is a bubblrific bubbly bubble blurb bout bubbleful bubblies. Do bubblies make your bubbly bubbles thump? Do you like to dance in bubbly bubble fields, catching bubblrific bubbles on your bubbly tongue? Do some people make bubblies in your tumblies? Well, good, cuz I went on a bubbly bubbly journey adventure and here's my Internet research. Okay.

History:

Of course bubblies have always existed, but people began 2 play with bubblies when, duh, soap existed. the "Pear Soap Co." of England (19th cent.) Released the soap and bubble blowing phenom. Amazingly bubbly toys were limited 2 bubble pipes until mid 20th century. Wow! I don't know how they survived.

Basically, underwater, the bubbles have a tug-a-war of molecules. For every "up pull" there is a "down pull." And every "left pull" there is a "right pull." So, the bubble/molecule feels no net force, cool huh? On the surface there is a big distance. There are no reciprocal pulls, so in order to survive the bubble has to be stretched...Blowing bubbles! Wow! This stretchy skin is called surface tension.

Antibubbles: OK, an antibubble is a hard concept 4 some to grasp, so I'll make it simple. It's a bubble surrounded by liquid, filled with liquid but having an air "shell." See my diagram if I'm 2 confusing. These antibubblies, well they are slightly lighter that the surrounding liquid and take a while to float to the top. When I read an article 'bout antibubbles they said antibubblies are important cuz of nuclear large scaled exothermic chemical processes, but I don't get it so go 2 my bubblio to read it yourself.

OK let me describe two hours from this bubble kid, Chris Clark's, day. While other kids would be skateboarding round the neighborhood or raiding the local Drug Store, for 2 hours every day Chris spends his time in a locked, steel tank and a plastic oxygen hood over his head. What? That's what yur thinkin right? Well, Chris has a disease called Perthes disease that attacks the femur or thighbones. I don't really understand the process of putting oxygen back in the bones. Chris says, "I can't run or anything...It just feels normal, sometimes you feel a bit sick, but nothing 2 bad." Chris is one of the 1st peeps to take part in the hyperbolic oxygen to treat Perthes study.

Do u like old skool punk, smart-pop harmony and lots of attitude? Then you'll like the Bubble Boys. They pretty much play in Kansas city @ local gigs but did go on a west/Midwest tour 4 awhile. They capture a "youthy" punk spirit w/ tons of harmony. Each song is catchy and ranges from smashing killer punk to heartbreaking love songs. Thei debut album "Bitter Is Better" went out in '96, so check it out, k? They're awesome!

Guess what? Greeks were chewing resin 4rm mastic trees round 50 a.d. and the Mayans of So. America chewed Chicle [Chiclets now] and No. American natives chewed resin from spruce trees. John Curtis introduced spruce gum in 1848. The 1st state of the art factory built in 1852 by Curtis Chewing Gum Co. The first vending machine carrying gum was introduced to New York in 1888. Wrigley began delivering gum to shops by wagon in 1890. In 1914, Wrigley's DoubleMint brand came out. Guess what? Walter Diemer [of Fleer] invented modern bubble gum in 1928. Pink was the only color nearby when he made the first batch. So that's why pink is the color for gum. In 1994, Susan Montgomery Williams blew the world's biggest bubble at 23".

Recipes:

4 bubble gumble:

One cup o flour\

Cheese cloth

Dish towel

Running H20

directions: Put the flour in the middle of the dish towel and pull up the ends. Hold the cheese cloth (w/ flour in it) under running water and squeeze the flour into a ball. Squeeze until all of the starch is out. Keep following these procedures until the flour is sticky and gray. The ball should be about a half inch big. OK, now pop it in your mouth and chew. You'll just have to get used to the taste, if you can't handle it, add a bit of powdered instant gelatin to the glob. You get bigger bubbles if you skip that step.

soap bubblies:oapie Bubbles:

2/3 Joy dishwashing soap

1 gallon o H20

2 to 3 tablespoons o glycerin (u can find zees @ chemical supply houses or pharmacies)

I'll be back!
