| At the Children's Discovery Musuem, we work hard throughout the year not only for the museum, but for other places as well. In our Special Activities, we make projects throughout the year. Some of them include the decorations for the Haunted House at Washington Elementary and for Christmas in the park. All of these projects show our hardwork, dedication, and team work. We also made soap and learned about hand-washing, made mascots for Earth Day, and installed a recycled tower in the Museum Garden! |

The first special activities project Discovery Youth worked on this year was the Halloween decorations for Washington Elementary's Halloween Haunted house. Volunteers from Discovery Youth worked on making graves and tombstones that surrounded the House, and painting pumpkin balloons. DY also dressed up as ghosts, zombies, and vampires to scare all the people that came. With Discovery Youth's help, the Haunted house was a huge success. |

| The second project that we worked on this year was the decorations for Christmas in the Park. Discovery Youth worked on decorating old unused cds and popscicle sticks. DY set out tables on the Museum floor and guests came to decorate their own CDs. Then DY hugh the decorations on trees at Christmas park. The end result was truly a winter wonderland spectacle. The guests also could visit Christmas in the Park and see their beautifull artwork on display. |

| DY had a special activity where we learned about how to try to keep yourself clean and get rid of as much germs as possible when cleaning your hands. We also got to make our own soap that we got to use at home. |

Discovery Youth worked hard in preparation for Earth Day. DY split into four groups coming up with ideas to make an Earth Day mascot. We only had certain recycle-able objects to make our mascots. This showed how we can reuse different materials and use our creativity to teach kids about Earth Day. Earth Day is important to Discovery Youth because we need to make Earth a cleaner and safer place to live in. The best way we can do this is by teaching others, showing our projects, and celebrating Earth Day. |

One of the last special projects DY did was installing a metal garden tower that we found while cleaning up trash from DY Community Clean Up day from the Guadalupe River. Students from DY help dig and put in the metal tower in the Children's Discovery Museum Garden. |
